Exhaust Brake question
Exhaust Brake question
I have a new 2008, 3500, 6.7
I have noticed that the Exhaust Brake comes on strong, but at about 1600 RPM, down to about 1400 RPM, it lets off about half the braking power, and around 1400, it comes back on strong.
Is this normal, and what is Dodge’s reason for this, and can this be fixed so it will come on even throughout the RPM range?

I don't think it should fluctuate like that. There have been some turbo issues with the variable geometry turbo on the 6.7. You may be experiencing some of that. If you're still under warranty, I'd take it in and at least have them look at it so you have it documented the problem exists.
mine started doing that after the second flash or so. i am on AX now. it went away with the exhaust and egr deletes though. now the eb is stronger than ever all the way down to 1100rpm. i think it has to do with the flash and egr.

MasterCaster,
It went away with the deletes because the exhaust break only does this(loses pressure around 1600rpms) during regeneration. It was something in the programming of the latest flashes.
