Engine brake work with cruise control?
Engine brake work with cruise control?
Last weekend, we were towing 10,000 lbs down a couple of hills and noticed that with the cruise control on, the engine brake would not kick in. Is this normal? The transmission would downshift trying to slow us down, but without the engine brake, it was a lost cause. If I kicked off the cruise, the engine brake worked no problem. I have the smarty Jr with California deletes. Anyone else have this issue?
The EB will work on my 08 with the cruise control on and Tow/Haul mode on. But the engine RPM needs to be above 1400 RPM's for it to work in 5 or 6th gear. Just a thought what was the engine RPM's when the EB would not work?

Hmmm. thats odd, it works on everybody's but mine. Going down that hill by Regina, it downshifted to 5th, then 4th (2,800 rpm) and no engine brake and the revs were climbing. Kicked off the cruise and the engine brake kicks and slows down. Maybe I should download the latest from MADS and reprogram. The only issue is that we don't have any good sized hills around here to test.
