Earlier in this post, you said you unhooked the EGR,
“I went ahead and did the EGR delete the correct way just in case the butterfly was somehow closing during driving. It was open when I pulled the intercooler hose off the intake and I even had the truck running.”
I unhooked the plug to the EGR on the right side over the exhaust manifold.
By your post, it sounds to me, that you removed the butterfly from the left side?
My question is, There is a butterfly on the right side, with the cables connected to it, So is there another butterfly on the right side, under the controller on the Intake Pipe???

YES. If you are looking at your EGR, to the right and down is the rubber boot that connects the intake to the intercooler. There's an aluminum box type thing that says SIEMENS or VDO or both on it. The butterfly valve is right inside there. I had pulled that boot off and started the truck and I stuck my fingers up inside there and could feel the butterfly plate. That is the one that you remove. It's kind of a pain getting the intake into a position where you can do the removal but it doesn't take too long. The Torx screws are a pain and I ended up having to drill mine out....

BTW, the engine sounds AWESOME with the boot off of the intake! Really throaty! I wish I could have left it that way......

The butterfly with the cables on it is just to redirect EGR from cooled to non cooled in case the coolant temp is rising too much. The butterfly that needs to be removed is inside the intake manifold on the driver side of the engine. It will be spring loaded to be in the open position when not in use, and the plug he disconnected is on the egr valve itself right at the intake manifold.
I remove the entire intake manifold and that way you can grind the back of the torx screws to remove them so they don't break in half. Then use the gaskets on top of the valve for a template and just make some sheet metal blockers to slide back in. They tell me the 08 butterfly won't close if you unplug it but I can't confirm this so I remove it anyway. Save it for testing later!!!!
And make sure you have a chair handy to fall back in, when you see how black and sooting the intake gird heater is and how restricted the intake manifold is on this truck. That is going to be an AWESOME mod when they finally get one made for the 6.7.
