my CEL came on today on my way home. 3800 miles. I called dealer after I did the VIN lookup and it's due for the upgrade and o2 replacement. Should I be cautious driving around this weekend? I plan on getting fixed monday I just dont want to be left stranded. Thanks for any input.

 

They have no idea if it has to do with the recall because you dont know the code. Get in your truck start with key in the off position and turn on and off 3 times farely quick and leave on, on the third time and were your milage is diplayed it will tell you your code. Then post on here. You might have to set your park brake and I hold one hand on the key release button make sure it is all the way off.

 

I tried the 3 times on/off but no luck. What happens on the third time left on is the CEL blinks 5 times then stays solid. Any ideas with that? I tried both fast/slow on the on/off trick but no dice. Thanks.

 

You have to turn the key just about as fast as you can, with the e-brake on and all the doors closed. Trust me you will need to know how to do this with one of these trucks. I have 18k miles on mine and I can't tell you how many time the cel came on, but when I checked it there was no trouble code stored. I have all the code discriptions but I don't know how to post an attachment, so if you need to know what your code let me know.

 

thanks i will give that a shot. Right now the CEL is off, I have an apt scheduled for Wed to get the latest flash and the o2 module replaced. I will see what I can find out from the dealer on latest codes etc if there happens to be any newer.

 

abs codes can set a check engine light and not be read. A scan tool or smarty will reset the code

 

Push in the emerg. brake and do the on/off trick 3x and it should work....
