I would think that if we are talking about "who would own the market", the 4500/5500-450/550 market would be "owned" by Dodge.
To big/heavy for a pickup...

Here is a better question to ask then the Toyota/Cat stuff:

You already complain about the prices for dodge trucks so why would you want the 8.3ISC instead of the 6.7L? More engine and transmission options = higher cost and price (for you).

Yes I believe we all understand that. Arguing on the term's used to describe something like "twin turbos" is pointless. Assuming your a male, you could have a "twin" sister. You may not be identical buy your still called twins...thank you. Sort of like the "engine" "motor" discussion. Gas engine/electric motor. And I can question that theory by asking why it's called an outboard motor on a boat.

Nick.
It wasn't late 2002, it was 2004. The 2003's were the "bridge" engines that were a combo of the older C15's and the Accerts. I currently have 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and a 2006 trucks and the only Accert ones are the 2004 and the 2006. I've heard of the rocker arm problem however with almost 500k on the 2004 and 185k on the 2006 I personally haven't had an issue with it. As far as the turbos go I'd venture to guess the failure rate is far less than the VGT's just based on the number I've seen the few times I've had work done at the dealer. I know, not very scientific but 5 trips to get the A/C fixed I've seen 3 ISX's with bad chargers (2 in at the same time) and only 1 Cat.

I would have to agree with JFaulkner, we see several trucks in and out of our facilities every week most of them running cats and general concensus is the owners like them, several have been "accert" engines those guys say that if you run them like Cat recommends they are great. I kind of read into that, if you don't they can have problems? Not sure just a feeling, its been 10 years since I did any driving (trucks that is).

It would be in our best interest if Toyota did make a Cat powered 3/4 ton truck. Then we might see better quality and material put into the home made trucks. We have the best skilled labor force in the world. But the need for huge corporate profit dictates the design and materials that go into our vehicles. I have seen this problem first hand in the Oil & Gas manufacturing of Rock Bits. The use of sub-standard steel that cost 5.00 extra in a 4000.00 Rock Bit to save half a million dollars in six months turned an American made Rock Bit into an F---ing boat anchor. Its all about the dollars saved.
