Cat 7.2?
Make sure you **** all over your fellow Americans while your at it.
The quality is not that much different to warrant giving your money to support another country's economy.
And yeah, I know everything is made everywhere (jap cars assembled in US, US cars assembled there, etc).
It is not important where a vehicle is designed, developed, or manufactured. What is important is where the revenue goes when you purchase the vehicle. When you buy a Toyota, you are giving iyour hard earned American currency to their economy, further lowering the value of our dollar and increasing the trade defecit.
Still have a job? Keep buying foreign.

Now I might have misread this but the other day reading news and business a short article about Nissan and Toyota have dropped their plans on a full size diesel trucks in this country. To much money involved in new tooling from the ground up and meeting emission requirments etc.Nissan is also dropping the Pathfinder and Armada to invest in more smaller fuel efficent autos in this country.
I dont know what the big hoop-la is about CAT engines. Seems like everyone is hung up on a name
The C7 is a gutless pile of junk; I would take a 6.7 in an F650-F750 over a cat ANY DAY. Its based on the proven 5.9 and uses technologies that are efficent and troublefree.
HEUI and ACERT. Worst ideas ever IMHO.

I'll take Acert over EGR anyday. That and the new C7's are common rail and even the older ones run well if you turn them to 330hp. I'll give you the fact that the 3126/C7 isn't their best work but I don't think they're junk. I'd rather have a 26k truck with the C7 rather than a little 5.9.

Sorry I wouldn't want facts to get in the way of anyone's opinion.

p.s. quick question: why are "twin turbos" the greatest upgrade to most on this site unless someone other than Cummins does it? Honestly, if Cummins had offered a twin turboed 5.9 alot of you would have exploded with excitement. But since a non cummins brand does it i.e Cat (which by the way is set up exactally how you'd do it on your 5.9) it's stupid. I'll give you the fact that "thing" International calls "twin turbos" they have on that 6.4 is stupid.
Nothing wrong with a Cat engine. What everyone does to our trucks is Compound Turbo's not Twin turbo's. Twins would be the same size turbo and both pumping into the intake at the same time. Compounds is when one smaller turbo feeds a larger turbo for quick spool and low EGT's under Wot if everything is setup right.
Cat with Accert technology run compound turbos because there diesel engines could no longer meet emissions with a single turbo thats why they changed to a compound setup in late 2002. The rocker arms break and they like to eat turbos.
I dont think Cat will ever enter the light duty diesel truck market.
JMO but I think if Cat entered the light duty truck market we would have another ford and navstar feasco on are hands. JMO

Wow interesting. Oh and by the way I have Two Fords and 3 John deeres out in my driveway, so according to his statement who is currently crapping on americans?
Flame suit on

And the computer you are on is made where?
Assembled where?
Using parts manufactured where?
It's kinda hard to **** on our fellow Americans when they've already done it to themselves.

I'd much rather do that than give my $ to some lazy leach who is capable of working but doesn't since he's figured out to beat the system.
But what if he was finally forced to work?
Would he do quality work?
Or would he just "get by" like so many do?
I deal with lazy people all the time who think that they are "owed" or "entitled" a (good) paying job simply because they are a union member or fall under some "minority" garbage.
They do just enough to get by.
They take no pride in what they do.
Yet they draw a check because some rule, law, or policy keeps them working.
It's an ever day issue I have a problem with.
And yes, I am a union member.
It's almost impossible to fire someone that rides along on the shirt tails of others. As a result, I bust my rear to pick up the slack.
I care about my job, take pride in what I do and always give 110%.
Still have a job?

Want to save the US economy?
Keep lazy people from breeding.

If you can't .....I will the last time Toyota laid off an employee was 1956. The big 3 are moving plants to Mexico and closing others while Toyota has built 3 in the last 10 years and is breaking ground for the Th in MS. as we speak. As far as automobiles it's a global market, Did the Germans make the profit off your Mexican built Ram, Like they did mine??
Hey P_Talley..
I had a chance to work on a Tundra commercial last year.
It first aired during the Super Bowl game.

OK enough of this "foriegn/American" built stuff.
Here is a better question to ask then the Toyota/Cat stuff:
Why didn't Dodge up the Cummins engine one size for their 4500/5500 and go to the 8.3 ISC? And then provide a wider choice of trannies to suit these buyer's needs.
I would think that if we are talking about "who would own the market", the 4500/5500-450/550 market would be "owned" by Dodge.
