Ditto. Even with my 5.9's lousy mileage, I'm still happy I'm not dealing with CEL's and re-gens.

I have to say, though, that the new D-Max trucks are great! I liked the one I put some miles on recently.

Just don't switch out the stock exhaust. The trucks do not like it very much... The cat-back exhaust acutally causes the truck to be less responsive around town.

Only thing I care to do to the exhaust is throw on a donaldson to get rid of the drone. Just not sure if that should be the 5" with converters, or the 4".

i love my 5.9 too, but an incompetent dealer tech can screw up a 5.9 just as easy as they can a 6.7.

Well if you think that Ford or GMC diesel engines are trouble free then you need to spend a few days reading the many post of the problems they post on there web forums. Dodge is not the only one who has problems due to the EPA smog junk. I also will have to agree with Spooler that yours is the first post I've seen about a 6.7 (let alone 2 from the same company) with injector problems as the 6.7 are said to have better made injectors then the 5.9's.

well an update.

i got a call this afternoon from my dealer that my truck was ready.
they replaced one fuel injector. 16 days out of service for 1 fuel
injector. this is the same scenario that the quad cab went through.
they replaced one injector, the truck died and then they finally
replaced all 6. my guess is my mega cab will take a **** in about
a week and the process will start all over again.

I've been shopping the quad cab trying to trade it. nobody really
wants it. I've been getting ridiculous trader numbers. one
GMC dealer offered 23k for a trade. Toyota is closer to 30k.
it seems the trucks have lost 33% of their value in 6 months.
I'm going to beat on Toyota a little more in the morning. the
crappy trade numbers are forcing me to adjust my patience level
with Dodge.

as for the fuel in our tank the lab said it was fine.
to be truthful i don't understand some of these numbers.
maybe somebody on the board can translate.

percentage water .013
bacteria 2.5E02
base cetane rating 51.5
treated cetane rating 53.5

i am hoping to have the sulfur content tomorrow.
I'll post it when it comes in.
i haven't had a chance to check the micron size
of the fuel tank filter. I'll check in the morning and
post that as well.

one last thing. when my truck runs it runs great. love the look,
power, and comfort that the truck offers. i really don't like or
want any other vehicle but what good is a truck that is undependable.
after this experience
I've lost a lot of confidence in the dependability of the Cummins engine.
like everyone here i am perplexed as to why both our trucks
have been on the unable to perform list. coincidence? who knows?
we don't abuse them in any way. i am meticulous to the point of OCD and my uncle is not far behind. maybe somebody on the board
with more knowledge than me can lend some insight.

PS. if it dies on the way home......i quit!

Once fixed your best bet is keep them.Any new truck your going to take a beating trading in the first year or two including a Toyota.Next owners on your trucks has already had the bugs worked out of it by you.

I think some of the problems is the dealers don't have qualified people who know how to work on the engines. Some are no more then R&R people who only know what the computer tells them to pull and replace and if that don't work try this part. Though I do think its strange that 2 trucks both with 6.7 's have injector problems at close to the same time. Did the dealer have the diesel in each truck tested to see what if anything showed up?

first i would like to thank everybody for their concern and advice.

i picked up my truck today.

by the seat of the pants meter it seems to have more power.
all was well until this afternoon when the CEL came on.
i called the dealer and told them i would be bringing it
back to them next week. to be truthful I'm disgusted.
i called Chrysler and they pushed the claim to the regional
rep. he is supposed to call me next week. i plan on asking
them to buy our trucks back. my guess is this will be a long
drawn out fight. I'm ready for it though.

when i picked up the truck today the service adviser didn't want to
give me any of the repair paperwork. after numerous requests
they haven't given us any of the paperwork from the quad cab.
when i called them this afternoon i told them i would send someone
down on Monday afternoon to pickup all of the service repair sheets.
this is just plain odd. almost like they don't want us to have any
record of the disaster that is our trucks. other than that oddity the
service reps have been cordial to deal with. another item worth mentioning
is the general manager has not returned my call as was promised.

overall it sucks.

Man that's sad when this happens...... sorry about your problems.

And if you don't mind my saying it again without knowing them your dealer sounds like a know-nothing jerk.

(sorry if that hurts anyone's feelings but it's true.)

the dealer is Wilkes barre dodge. they are located in Nanticoke pa. i don't get it either.

the service tech seems to be a nice young guy.
i haven't jumped on these guys to hard because
i feel that some of these issues go beyond what
a tech can fix. more a design issue. these trucks
weren't ready for the road. with all of the CEL and
re gen problems it would seem to me that a
class action lawsuit would fit the bill. oh....i'm not
an attorney....but i did sleep at a holiday inn
express last night!

I had thought about that too, but the only ones that fare well in a class action suit are attorneys. Often times, the remaining settlement is too diluted after it gets split up among many to make much of a difference.

If I were you, I'd definitely hire an attorney. Yeah, it's going to cost you, but it's going to cost you either way and there's no sense in leaving money on the table after what you've been through.

good news!
well my truck hasn't been in the shop for over a week!
bad news....i've been on vacation for a week and the truck has
been parked in my garage.

Chrysler called me while i was on vacation and asked me a few
questions regarding my truck. they said they would call me when
i got back home.

they called today and offered me a new identical truck! i am quite pleased
with the offer and how they have stepped up to correct a miserable situation.
they haven't finalized anything on the quad cab yet but they said they would
call me by the end of the week to finalize everything.

so here's the big question.......Diesel or Gas?!?!?!
i went to the dealership tonight to drive a Hemi mega cab. not a dog
but certainly not the equivalent in power to the 6.7.

so guys lets hear your opinions!

one last thing......
I'm not sure if the truck will be an 08 or 09.
