Question Anti-spin issue

Does anyone know if there is a way to tell if a rearend is an anti-spin by looking at the housing on a 2008 Dodge 3500 SRW? My window sticker says I have the anti-spin rearend, but I have noticed that its not locking up like it is supposed too. It wasn't locking up on level ground with about an inch of snow under both tires. Has anyone else had any problems with this? I have had vehicles with open rearends work better than this!

Snow will let the tires spin with such ease that all power will go to the spinning wheel. A fast check if the anti-spin is working is to set the parking brake just enough to get some resitance for the rear end. give it a lil goose on a slippery surface and if they both spin good to go if one spins you have a prob with the anti spin. I have had to give the brakes a quick jab on the brakes to get the anti spin to work better on a slippery boat dock many times to get the boat out or i set the park brake just a lil to fool it into working beter.

zfort001 is correct. You could probably just tap the brakes and get it to lock up...

I thinks its addressed in the owners manual.But no you can't tell by looking.Housings are the same.

If you do a search on this you WILL find your answer. It's been posted before. It is not a typical posi, meaning that in ice and snow it ACTS as an open rearend which helps you with lateral traction. Ever notice how posi causes your rear end to slide to the side all the time in the snow ??
The rear end needs resistance from both tires to engage. Therefore, if you have no resistance on one wheel, simply tap the brakes to cause the resistance needed.

Pulling some stumps, I have had similar problems with no locking. A little tap or a few clicks on the parking brake should lock it right up.
