Trac-Lok/Anti-Spin/Limited Slip

Just got my service manual for the truck from Tech Authority (somebody forgot to warn me that there's 2 volumes and they're both big ). Been wading through them and I've been trying to answer a question that popped up about the rear axle. My truck data sheet says I have anti spin, some of you post that you have limited slip, and in the manual it talks about "TRAC-LOK Differential". Is this all the same item? I understand the principal for Trac-Lok, just want to be sure we're using synonymous terms.

~Dave

Oh great, another acronym to keep in mind.

By the way, you going to try and catch the bomb party at Rob's next month?

~Thanks for the reply.

Re:Trac-Lok/Anti-Spin/Limited Slip

NWdave
Your anti spin axle has tork of 75ft lbs. Both wheels don't all ways have power on them. If you are stuck good or have one wheel on ice and one wheel on pavement, the only one that will have power to it will be the one on ice. When you turn corners on dry roads one wheel has to disconect, or your truck will want not want to turn so good. Anti spin works real well in snow if you feather the pedal. Once it breaks loose you don't have anti spin, only one wheel will spin. I went to our local dodge dealer and asked them if they would tighten mind up to 85 or 90 ft. lbs. on my 98 ram 1500 and they said they would not while it was under warranty. Don't forget to put good lub. in your rear pumpkin, if it needs new lub. you will know it when you back up and turn, then sometimes it don't want to break loose, you'll here it or the corner of your truck box will shake a little bit.
hope I maybe answered a question

waam Holland Mich
20 degrees at 8 a.m. Sat.
diesel fuel still 1.45 to 1.53
