Another question about flashes
I called my dodge dealer yesterday. To get my truck in the shop for some warrenty work done on my drivers door and asked while i was there if i could get my truck flashed to the most up to date one. Well the service writer said they could not just update it they had to call it in to get the ok. Does that sound right?? also i did my frist mpg check today and it is not bad but i think it could be better. I got right around 15 mpg. but that was with some wot runs and city/highway driving. So with that is there a flash for the 6.7 for better fuel milage?? If there is that way they should be able to update my computer. The only thing i have done to my truck is put h2 wheels and 285/70/17 bfg tires on it and unplug the egr valve. Thanks Mopar72
That's a crock. I had three stored codes in my ECM when I got my truck @ 14,200 miles. Two of the three had a flash altogether for each one. Once they plug in, they will have the option of looking for updates from Chrysler. Just like you would with Windows. In the past you had to have a specific TSB or software requiring an update. I am lucky to have access to this where I can learn firsthand. I found updates for most of my modules on board, including the radio and sunroof. If you have ever seen the little red lightning bolt symbol come on, then you will have a stored code. This is a popular one and will get you the most up-to-date software.

When you take it in tell them it is surging at slow speeds and blowing white smoke at startup. They will hook it in and "should" take care of any flashes. That is what I did with mine. The other ting is to unplug the EGR start the motor and then plug it back in. This will throw a code and they need to hook it in to the starscan to clear it. Any decent dealer will then update the ecm
