Adding 2 Stroke Oil to Fuel on 2007
Adding 2 Stroke Oil to Fuel on 2007
Hello:
I am a first time Diesel owner. I recently purchased a 2007 3500 Mega Cab with a 5.9L CTD. I have been looking through the threads and am still unsure if it is safe to add two stroke oil to the fuel on an 2007 Truck. I live up in Northern Canada where it gets pretty cold during the winter (-20 to -40degrees C). Will adding oil to your fuel to help lubricity have any negative affects in cold weather? Any help is appreciated!

Why not just use a proper diesel lubricant\antigel like Power Service.
You can get it at Crappy Tire, Walmart etc.
Probably no more money than 2 stroke and you won't have any warranty issues.

I'm with that. Two stroke oil is for two strokes. Powerservice is available just about everywhere. I've been using Lucas for a couple months now and it seems to work very well as a lubricant and quiets the p-pump down a good bit. Seems to be a high quality product.
jtjpike Im in northern BC so I know where your coming from, my 06 5.9 has had either Hawes or Power service from day one, just read the jug and add what they recomend, were on winter fuel here thats for sure, Ive noticed a drop in mileage between my last tank and this one, ive got over 30,000km now and never had any problems with those 2 addatives.

I'm a diesel newbie too, but the ratio I've read the most is 1 oz/gal fuel and yes 2 stroke oil does add a lot of lubricity. Don't use synthetic 2 stroke though. Probably OK to add to the 5.9, not so sure with the 6.7.
Power Service large jub about $ 16.00 at WallyMart. WallyMart brand TC3 Outboard motor oil $9.00/gal.
I run a 256:1 ratio in my older cummins. (1/2 oz/gal) I found that my mileage dropped a little at 1oz/gallon or 128:1 ratio. It really did quite it down with the larger dose. My fuel mileage is back up at the lesser amount.
So, I guess 1oz/gal needs some centane boost with it. You'll need the Silver Bottle of Power Service for the winter. I would mix it 8oz of power service and 8oz of two stroke for the winter and drop out the power service when it warms up again.
Us, down here south of Interstate 10, don't need the silver unless you go north were the fuel retuned to the tank causes condensation in the tank, especially when you get low on fuel.
