Question 12v 2-stroke oil adding question

I have a question, is there a way to add the 2-stroke oil to the fuel in-line like the two-banger 50hp johnson does in my boat? all you do is make sure the resivour has oil in it or fill it when the light goes off. I know the fuel delivery on the outboard is much slower flow to the engine than what is in my 12v, but there has to be a way to add it "pro-bono" if you will, than pouring it in every time. ? ? ? ? ?

Open the cap in the cement at the diesel shop, dump it in, start pumping.

Other than that, I think it would cost more than it's worth for an injection system.

I think if you injected it into the fuel line the concentration would be higher than you need, unless you had some way to meter it. Ideally you want to have the 2 cycle oil mixed evenly with the diesel, that's why a lot of guys put the oil in before they fill the tank.

true, it was just something that popped into my head when the oil light went off on the boat the other day. probably the second time I have added oil to it since I got it in 2000.

I think the benefit is from lubrication as it goes through your injection pump. I'm not sure of any benefits of increased cetane, etc like the other fuel additives claim. If it was just injected into your supply loop on the suction side, part of that would recirc to the tank and make the oil oil concentration more and more.

Ya, just a bit at each fill up should be fine! I buy the cheap walmart outboard gallon jug, then put them in some smaller containers I have around that are "about right" for what I add to the tank. Throw a few in the tool box so you don't have to mess around with the gallon each time.

1 oz per gallon is what I usually do.
So its about a quart of oil for every tank.

Id say stay away from the trans fluid and go with 2-stroke oil instead. Its designed to lubricate AND burn.

I use 20 oz of walmart two stroke boat motor oil per tank don't no that it smokes any more because i have bad fuel haze, but i like the idea of lubricating my I/P a little more.
