Check Engine Light
Check Engine Light
I had the check engine light come on today the truck has 1153 miles on it. The dealer flashed the PCM to 55350105AU and performed OBDIII inspection for DTC code: CEL????? Can anybody explain thgis in english. I am new to the forum and new to diesels.
My check engine light comes has come on about 8 times since I have owned it and it has 6500 miles on it. Everytime I try the on/off on/off on trick I get a 10 sec. delay with "--------" then I get "done". It will not show any codes and I know that I need to take to the dealer. My local dealer are backed up and still have not had a convenient time for my to come in.
They said just drive it.
Usually the cel light will go out after one or two tries of the on/off on/off on trick and then I will get the CEL will start flashing and the word "done" comes up and the light goes out for quite a while.
The truck drives the same since I have bought it and the only thing I can think of is a regen issue may be tripping the cel light. Do not know this for sure.
I have noticed when the CEL light comes on the MPG starts dropping and it sorta feels like the regen process is going on but I do not know for sure since there is no indication of when the truck is regening.
I did have the latest flash that came out 3 months ago and my dealer said that I may need the newest flash but would be two weeks before they could get it downloaded and then I would need to SCHEDULE an appointment with them when it is convenient for THEM.
I will let everyone knows how it goes....
I STILL LOVE THE TRUCK, IT IS MY FIRST DODGE. I have been a superduty owner for most of my little adult life.
I would just like to get the CEL light issue resolved. Maybe the best thing (financially not the best) thing to do is drop the truck off for a couple of weeks and rent a car. That does not seem like the fair thing to do but may be my only option.
Hope this helps...

Ever since I had the flash done months ago there has been no problems with my truck. In fact my problems started just about at 1100 miles like yours.
I'm at 7k+ right now and it runs great!
So if you had the CEL on and they determined it needed flashed your probably in good shape now. That is if we are talking about the 6.7?

Thanks for all the input I'm new at this . The truck is 2007 2500, 6.7 I am hoping this is one that will not have all the problems I see on this thread. It was built in June so maybe most of the BUGs have been worked out.
Check engine light
Most of the check engine light problems around here are caused by the turbo, which is a cummins error. One dealer had three 07's in this Wk. alone with the check engine light on. Dealer said people with check engine light on should not drive them, cause it screws up the exhaust big time, and all new parts to correct the problem are on back order. waam Holland, Mich.
