It may seem that 4 years should be more than enough, I thought so to. Now I know better. It takes a long time to get everything running good without major problems. Cummins might fix one computer problem that they are having just to create another when they get the first one fixed. Then you throw more emmisions equipment on top of that and you are just asking for problems. Yes the 6.7 has been tested for quite some time and most of the bugs have been worked out. But there will always be a few that will only show up with real world testing. You can only test vehicles so much, that is where the time issue comes in. Then when you do test it you can't possibly test for every single thing that the customer is going to do with that truck. Belive me when I say all of this because I have been on both sides of the ball on this one.

I am seriously considering trading in my 04.5 which has left me stranded in the past 75k to an '08 with the 6.7L for the mere fact that I have no warranty left and now the expensive stuff is starting to break.

Hope it all works out for your friend.

I don't believe recurring manufacturer engineering issues should always be dismissed to "they all have problems".

I hate to say it but my wife's Toyota Tacomas never had any problems over the years running all over our rugged back country ranch. With every new product launch it's impressive how dependable and trouble free their vehicles are.

As for the dealerships, I believe it comes down to who actually works on the truck. When I find a good tech, I surely remember him at Christmas.

Big myth. the tundra is assembled in the USA, not made here. I forget where it is but they did a survey and GM has 79% USA parts, Ford has 76% and Dodge has 72%. The tundra had 63%.

If Toyota would only put a Diesel in the Tundra or FJ Cruiser, they would have a killer vehicle...

So ... what is your buddy's verdict? Did he dump the truck and buy a Ford? Or did he get his truck fixed?

I'm sure everyone here would like to know.

I'm the buddy! I had the turbo replaced about 1000 miles ago and so far no more problemsAnd it would have been a GMC not a Fix Or Repair Daily!

I firmly believe it's a LSD fuel, cheap fuel, dad always used leftover heating oil so I do too, fuel additives that aren't needed but I just gotta do something, too much idling because big rigs idle a lot even though Cummins recommends they don't idle for long periods of time either, it's a cruiser that never sees a load but compensates for my small man syndrome, I only drive three miles to work so I need a truck that will last a million miles... I bet if a guy bought one and used it for it's intended purpose, fed it the required fuel and oils and, left out the snake oil and gimmicks, it would be fine.
Sorry, just got torqued about the cheap Dodge, precious Honda post.
Yeah, yeah yeah!!! F-in A! Right on - WHAT HE SAID!
