If you want real junk get a Ford. If you are dead set against Dodge go with the Chevy.

Last month I went to Veil Colorado and their are some nice long grades between Veil and Denver. I saw one Semi parked with smoking brakes. Two Duramax's pulling 5ers pulled over with the hood up one 08 superduty with some sort puddle under it. Their weren't any Dodges parked on the sidelines is all I have to say

Your friend is dealing with a new engine and emmision system so he shouldn't be surprised to see a few problums. 8 times in the shop in 9000 miles, I would agree is excessive. Mabey its time to try a different dealer,
I had a 97 Powerstroke lemon lawed, so I can understand what he is going threw. And I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Diehard Dodge, well I have a 05 F350 6.0 parked right beside my dodge right now.

Talked to a guy (Customer and friend) with an '08 F250 today. It's only been in the shop a couple times so far. And this morning it was blowing white smoke and surging.

Meanwhile my '03 just purrs right along.

I've also heard of cab removal for some of the common stuff that goes wrong. NO THANKS!

That is a bummer but I think as already mentioned, they are all having issues. I want a new truck so bad, but it isn't happening. As a matter of fact, I am going to start looking for a spare 305 motor when I get back from Iraq for the one I have now just incase something eventually happens to this one.
Hope it all works out for your friend.

Even the big trucks are having issues with the after treatment systems. At any time, there is at least 4 trucks waiting in our lot for emissions related issues. They need time to sort out all of the bugs, it is new technology.
