6.7 jake brake

First off let me say thanks for becoming a member of this forum.
I have nothing but problems with my 07 since day one i bought it. I tried to lemon law it because of all the problems. This is no joke i went thru all my records an it's been in the dealership 64 times for ck. eng. lite , third turbo. all of the latest computer upgrades, sensors you name it. it's been replaced or cleaned. The last recall i went thru, now the jake brake en gauges with out the button pushed in VERY DANGEROUS when pulling out in traffic not knowing it's on from an idel speed ( like at a stop sign) pull out in traffic an NO POWER. No idea whats up with that. Also from day one they told me to always to run the jk. brk. on all the time, seems like they could figure out a final fix. Truck is now out of warranty an still has all the problems it's always had. Never has been fixed. Any long term fixes would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the DTR!

Where are you located (for emissions equipment regs), what are you willing to do to fix it, what kinds of mods, if any, do you have in place. Fill out a signature so that we have a lil more info to help you with.

An easy fix for the check engine lights would be a Smarty and full deletes. This would probably fix the vgt issue also as it is a complete reprogram of the ecm. That is unless it is a physical hardware problem, but that seems unlikely.

If you can get away with no emissions testing I would delete everything.

How many miles you got, the turbo and emmisions should be covered under the cummins 5/100000 warranty.

Make the fix it, then once its running halfway right, delete it. Youll be amazed at the difference.

Yup, warranty is toast.

First of all, what codes are you getting???

Second I would send an email to Marco at MADS. www.madselectronics.com

Ask him if it is an ecm issue with the EB if a new program from him might fix it. As far as the hard parts, I doubt the turbo is malfunctioning, that would be really obvious. If you are not concerned with testing, a full delete of exhaust, EGR, EGR cooler, and Throttle valve with the Smarty would do you wonders for code free operation and improved fuel economy.

Im sure Lil Dog, mega-engr, goot_soot, or 2171CTD will chime in here shortly and may have some more insight.

Sorry about your problem truck there. Assuming you have no hard parts issues, just delete the DPF and EGR system via the programmer (Smarty) and your woes should be gone. I did all this myslef to avoid having any woes and have been very happy having done so. 120K of crap like that, warantee or otherwise, is a joke. Its time for your truck to have a rebirth.
