Jake Brake, 48RE and Dodge Chat
For your information, I went on the Dodge web site this morning under Chat and ask the following question:

"Can you tell me if a Jake Brake can be installed with the 48RE Automatic transmission on the new 2003 Dodge HO diesel".

A lady named Sharon stated, "Just a minute while I check".
Then she stated, "Unfortunately we do not have access to the information you requested. Please contact your dealer for this information".

Luke, since you are a dealer, do you have any information on this?

Thanks.

Hey Ken,

My name isn't Luke, but supposedly the 48 is tough enough to handle the Jake. And, I think someone said it can be locked down to 2nd. You can always put a switch on it. Just get that sucker in and go enjoy it. 8) 8)

Bob

Re:Jake Brake, 48RE and Dodge Chat
It would great to just put an E-brake on but for me personally, I would not do anything to void the warranty. The main reason for buying this vehicle is the Cummins and warranty. If DC has not approved an E-Brake for the 48RE and an individual installed one, they would love to refuse a claim in the event of failure.

The Cummins is a great engine and the reason for purchasing this vehicle, but I am having trouble understanding a company that does not tell you anything.
