Number wise, it is pretty interesting that the stock trans from the factory is built to handle it though. Aside from some glitches that all platforms have it is pretty amazing to me. I thought that GM had some big factory numbers, and now Ford topped that. Amazing numbers and drivetrains coming out numbers wise. I guess they're looking to market at guys that will never see anywhere near 100K miles that like a factory hot rod like myself :-).

Every time I meet "Ford" guys that love their Ford diesel trucks, they always have new ones and they continuously trade for new models. It's because Fords don't last. They can have whatever numbers they want. What good is a truck that can't be driven?

That's the heartache with the new 6.7, from what I see, from Cummins. People are spending too much time going to the dealer to get updates and MILs checked out which long time Cummins drivers are not accustomed to.

I guess it depends on statistics and such where most truck owners don't need them to last and don't hold on to them maybe. Guys like what is new and to upgrade as well as there are those that are happy with what they have and want it to last forever. I tend to not think the majority of guys are trading because their trucks are bad or worn out. These are horses pulling in opposite directions being discussed.

By my "upgrades" that I have done, I know there are some short/long term benifits and downfalls as well. I am hoping the Cummins can take it more so than any other as that is the reputation I understand.

It is always intersting when a factory does it as they are usually much less averse to risk than the regular consumer.

This man was probably a dangerous felon who intentionally ignored the severe damage he could have inflicted upon our planet by not refilling his DEF fluid in a timely manner. I believe he should have his drivers license revoked and all his guns and ammo seized. He should be listed with BATF as a prohibited firearms possessor for damaging our environment. If he displays such reckless disregard for life on this planet with the misuse of his diesel truck, imagine what a dangerous person he is and what damage he could do with a .22 rifle.

Nothing wrong with an early 07 6.7. If you are out of warranty, do the deletes and don't worry about it. I haven't been to a dealer in over 160,000 miles since I did them.

2003 7.3L F-350 here. Truck is almost eight years old and still looks almost brand-new even though almost half the miles are towing a trailer of some sort...many of which are quite heavy.

I might have "only" 250hp and 525tq, but thankfully this truck just keeps going and going, no matter what I hook up to it.

My dad has three Dodge/Cummins trucks, and I love the 5.9L. His '94 dually is a really sick truck, one that I'd be proud to own.

If I had the money, I'd like to consider buying a new Dodge with the 6.7L Cummins...but I just don't care for the exterior, especially the nose/grille.

Keep it, youve got a good one...

And the nose/grill is one of my favorite parts of the 06-09's

What's kind of funny is I think two of the best looking trucks ever to grace our roads are the 2nd gen Dodges ('94-'02) and 3rd gen ('03-'05 ONLY, not '06 and up).

The top three are rounded off by the '05-'07 Super Duty.

Thanks for the compliment, Blake. This '03 has been a very good truck.

Good looking truck. I have a friend who just traded in one similar to that. It was an 01 (I think) and had a tad over 350k on it. The 7.3 is one of the best V8 diesel to hit the road and I wouldnt be afraid to own one.

I can honestly say you're the first I've encountered. My old mechanic had Ford and Dodge customers. The Ford customers were always short duration because they'd trade the truck in, get a new one. After a year or so, they'd be back in the shop, get tired of that, trade again. The Dodge customers came to see him regularly for the scheduled maintenance issues and that was about it.

I need more space.
Should I look for an early megacab w/ 5.9 or go with the 6.7?

I don't think you'll go wrong either way. I love my 6.7 and 6 speed auto after the simple deletes.
