08 6.7 problems yet?

i just traded in my 04.5 2500 for a 08 6.7... i think i made a mistake.. i'm not impressed at all. i don't like the 6.7 that much. i had my 5.9 turned up pretty high. high enough to blow the tranny twice. and i decided i wanted a dually. well, now i got it. and i didn't check to see if there were any problems with them before i got it. now all i see on here is people with 07's and lots of problems. is there anything i need to look out for in the 08? haven't seen any bad comments about 08 yet. i've got 5000 miles on it and haven't had any problems yet. i want to put the bd power pup on it just for milage, but i have a lead foot. should i wait to see if something is gonna come apart before i do?

also, how do i change the little thing at the bottom that says what i got? can't figure it out.

Don't cause your own problems!

Use ONLY ultra low sulpher fuel - 15 ppm (not low sulpher 50ppm)
Use ONLY CJ-4 (low ash) oil - I use Valvoline Premium Blue - it's what Cummins use when they ship the engines.
Failure to follow the above WILL result in a failed DPF - I have experienced this on one of my company trucks where the driver ised regulat Rotella and deisel.

Follow the owners manual and I would wait before chipping it - these engines are very different than the 5.9's and need time to be out before they are screwed with by chipping them.

Ive got 23K on my '07 6.7 - no problems and LOVE it! Hope you do to!

thanks a lot!! i plan on running ams oil in it after getting a few more miles on it. i know it made a big difference on my 5.9..... i'm just not impressed with getting the same hp and torque as the 5.9 with a bigger engine. if they'd get rid of the dpf it would probably come alive.... maybe you can tell me.. why is it that the rpms would drop way faster on the old cummins than the 600 series and the 6.7? you know, like when you rev it in nuetral.....

It is a side effect of the common rail injection, and a lot more noticeable with a manual trans. You have a lot of pressure still in the rail when you let off the throttle. As far as your signiture goes, just click on user cp and look for the part that says signiture. it will tell you what to do.

thanks "airgrabber"! i've been wondering.

hey "ccoop", is that smarty any good? all i've use was the triple dog and a predator stage 3 chip in my old 04.5.... i liked it stacked. all i want from my 6.7 now is milage. its got all the power i want.... i guess. lead foot, big hp, and not enough money to fix the stuff that blows up don't mix well........

my seat of the pants dyno says the 6.7 has way more low end than the 5.9, stock for stock.

If you had your 5.9 turned up high enough to blow two transmissions of course you're not going to be satisfied with a stock 6.7. Turn your 5.9 down to stock and then tell me the same thing-

I am going to follow this thread closely because I am looking to trade my 04.5 with basic mods for a 6.7 and plan on keeping it stock.

I traded up to a manual 6.7 from the auto 5.9 in my sig. I have no regrets, other than missing the sound of a straight pipe (but that's what my '94 is for). Put the two head to head and the '95 might have had a slight edge just cause it was an auto. This truck impresses me every time I drive it.
