Whats a good fuel filter to run in stock housing?
As it has been stated the Baldwin PF7977 and Fleetguard F19856 (new version of F19800E) are the only two filters that meet OEM specs. In 06 Dodge changed the requirement from 10 microns to 7 microns absolute. WIX sells 10 and 7 micron nominal filters, not the OE spec; also there is rumor that WIX will not verify that their filter is also a water separator.

I bought a WIX at the parts store to carry as a spare before I was aware that it's not up to snuff. Will it work in the earlier year models? I know a few guys that could use it if it'll work with earlier models.
IIRC your Wix filter should be Ok for 2002 and older trucks.
