Question What are you guys doing to save on fuel ?

Just wondering since diesel in over $4 / gal. I'm thinking of getting a Geo Metro for a daily driver.

I've got a Ford Festiva 5-speed with a 1300 cc motor in it for running around. It's got 180k on it, and runs like a top!

I live 3 miles from work and own 11 horses. We have a barn right here at school so was thinking I could ride if I had too!

I also live three miles from work so it's not a big deal for me.

When I'm thrifty feeling I jump on the Hog.

my truck sits all week. currently i use my 91 corolla with 236k miles for my 4 mile commute. i Drive a BUS to work, then work all day and drive the BUS home. an actual bus. 40' just like a really big vanpool.
So in 2 weeks i move to the new house, 1/4 mile from where i park my bus. i'm gonna start walking.

I ride my bike to work year round. 3.2 miles one way. Keeps me in decent shape, especially when pushing the big 4 O this year. I do take the bus when the ambient air temp or wind chill is colder than -50 Celsius. The coldest day I rode this year was -46, it was a refreshing experience. The wife rides the bus to work, 12 minutes 1 way. I use the truck for work only and the Nissan for errands...

Figured it out the other day, with the recent increase in fuel prices, if the truck was empty, it would take 161.00 to fill!!!

I have parked my truck and only use it if i need something hauled. Being I'm retired I just have to stay at home as it cost to darn much to drive any where ( it's 20 miles one way to town) and I don't have the $$ to buy and insure a second car.
