fuel cost

If you are referring to "voting for bush", boy you are way off base.

Remember, he is the crazy american that wanted to drill a holes in the US as well as develop our own refineries so we would be less dependent on over seas.

I do not see how GWB has any control over the price of fuel, in fact, he is one to lower taxes. You just wait until hitler, oh I mean Hillary or BO gets into office. You will love the socialist society then!

For me, I drive a diesel jetta 48 mpg in the winter and 53+ mpg in the summer.

Park the truck unless needed for work or the occasional pleasure drive...

Drive the Jetta and enjoy my 48.6MPG avg!

JETTAs rock - I get 48+ mpg and I can still pull two snowmobiles if I want (get mid 30s if I do)

Funny thing is that most people do not believe my car gets 50+ mpg in the summer. Guy at work has an 02 jetta and he gets 63 mpg - it is the way he drives as well as some mods. I am happy at 50 mpg and I do not drive it like a grand pa.

gwb is a tool. A silver spoon fed rich kid that owns a ranch with no cows. A poser cowboy if you will and a moron.
Hillary and Billdo clinton gave all of our jobs to other countries.
The rich are in charge of the gas / diesel prices.
Who is getting rich off this war?
Fuel's hurtin the working man.

I Just paid 4.19 a gal. (135.25) to fill my tank on my way to work tonight ! I drive my truck every day and use about a tank a week . I have my bike to ride when the snow melts but till then I work weekends to pay for fuel to go to work. Soon nobody will even be able to pay for food let alone fuel . I still love my truck!!

Im in the same boat as another poster on this thread. Im retired also.
I use the truck only when I want to haul something or just feel like exercising it.
We just traded a Kia Sportage for a Ford Taurus with all the bells and whistles. Last couple of tanks I checked on the Taurus, it got 24/gal.
That gets driven almost everywhere.

The Cummins sits in the garage looking pretty. I drive an '85 'Yota truck back and forth to work. But, it's even on the way out the door b/c a Honda Civis will get twice the fuel mileage.

Same things I've always done to keep fuel costs down. Drive conservatively, combine trips, keep track of tire pressures, run white bottle PS and B5 in winter, B20 in the summer, Amsoil in rear diff, no unnecessary weight in truck, no more idle time than necessary and carpool when possible.

I also carpool to work with one other guy. It's one of the easiest ways to immediately cut my "going to work" fuel costs in half! Maybe, if enough people carpooled, the demand for fuel would drop and then the price? Probably wishful thinking on my part.

Well, because diesel fuel prices have been escalating for several years now, I decided back in December of '06 to purchase a new 2007 Harley-Davidson UltraClassic...........purely because it gets about 40 mpg. Since black is the fastest color, it's black. I paid cash, anticipating that I'd be able to put that cash back into my account over a short period of time. So I also try to limit my trips to work as much as possible. The local waterin' hole is within walking distance and compared to my small bar tab, it costs way too much to drive to work everyday. I also decided that when I do drive my truck, I'll do it with faulty injectors that bypass more fuel to the fuel tank than spray into the cylinder. Yes, I do have to use ether for every start, but at $1.59 per can, which lasts 3-4 weeks, look at more savings! I think my approach is sane, logical, and I know it works for me........................

I drive mine to work and back, then park it on the weekends and drive the wifes 4Runner around. Thinking about finding a used motorcycle to drive to work and back.

I just don't understand how people can buy 30,40,50thousand dollar trucks and can't afford the fuel.
Maybe some of you purchased more truck than you can realistically afford with your current budget. Happens all the time. Take a ride through your local trailer park or slum. Now look at the cars and trucks parked in front of these homes.............shocking to say the least! What are these people thinking? I pass a trailer park that is totally run down on my way to work. What do I see? Brand new 40-50 thousand dollar trucks and cars!......and kids in the streets barefoot, dressed in rags! Sad reminder of peoples priority's in this country
The new American way! buy more car, truck and house than you can afford. I wonder how many people drive $40,000 dollar trucks but don't have health insurance because they "can't afford it"?

Please don't misconstrue the issue. I'm not suffering and I make some nice coins. It doesn't mean I'm not sensitive to how the economy is going. I love steak and Papa's Steak House makes a good $40 ribeye, but I can make a better one with aged beef by buying and cooking myself. More value. Sure times are changing, but I'd be surprised if any others in the oil and gas business 10 years ago would have ever believed that diesel would surpass premium unleaded gasoline in price......or that oil would go fo $107+ per bbl. If I need to go somewhere in my truck, I will, regardless price, but I don't have to like it.
