Is there any way to tell if I have the 47RE or 48RE transmission?

Truck description in the signature.

 

What horsepower is the truck? 305 h.p. auto is a 48re

 

Are there any identifying markings on it, or does the VIN specify what it is. I do have the 305 HP for sure, I checked the sticker on the side of the valve cover.

 

IF you have the HO 305 then you have a 48re. If it was an SO it's possible you had the 47re. If you want to know for sure, go to the dealer's parts counter. Ask to have a build sheet printed out for your truck.

 

people will jump in and back me up, but check the build date on the truck. if I recall, if its built after 01/14/03 you have a 48re. I called the dealer when I got my truck, and they confirmed that I had a 48re.

but, like others said, you can just call the dealer and give them the last 9 of your vin and they will tell you.

 

If its a 305 H.O. its a 48re thats why I asked.The 47re was NEVER used with a H.O. engine
