water pump warrenty???

Is the water pump covered under the cummins 100k warrenty?

I started eating my belt the other day on the way home from work and thought that t was just an old belt and time to replace it. Well I took the belt(what's left of it) off today and noticed that the belt looked in good condition wear wise besides the 2 missing ribs...

So I start checking all the pulleys and the water pump is leaking and the shaft has quite a bit of play. I figure that is what is causing the belt to jump track and chew up...

So is the pump covered???

Thanks

Not sure but would think it is part of the engine warranty. On your 04.5 should be 5 years 100K no deductable, 7 years 100K $100 deductable. It should not be part fo the 7/70 as it is an engine part and without it engine damage can/will happen so engine warranty.

thanks guys. It looks like I will call the dealer tuseday morning and get it in there.
It couldn't have happened at a worse time because our other car goes into the body shop tuesday to fix $3,500 worth of hail damage. It looks like I will be getting a rental car for a few days...

You should tackle it yourself. Drain some coolant and there are only 2 bolts for the water pump. It will take you an hour tops. The pump is only around $100.00 (IIRC).

I would do mine for $100 cause I know the capabilities of the mechanic (me) as opposed to taking it to the dealership where I have no idea what his capabilities are. He may be better, may be not. But for only $100, and no wait time at the dealership, I'll have piece of mind.

Doesn't sound free to me. It will be more for the rental car if you get the dealership to do the work than if you buy the pump yourself and not have to rent a car.

don't let the dealership tell you that it is not covered i had to call dodge a number of times because my dealership would not cover it finally i got dodge to call the dealership and tell them that it was covered.....none of the people i talked to could understand that what the cummins warranty said was that the deductable kicked in after 100k or 5years good luck

the rental is covered by the insurance. I will get a car to drive for free. I saw that they had a new 2wd silverado. hopefully it is available. i could have some fun in a rental 2wd...

well i just got my rental. i got a brand new chevy 1500 4x4. i like the truck, but like my dodge better. Except for one thing..... The seats in the chevy rock. I want to steal them and put them in my dodge.

It looks like the tow truck will be here in the next hour or two to get the truck and it will be late in the week before they can get it in to work on it.

There is a TSB for the belt coming off it is to replace one of the pulleys I cant remember which one it is though. I doubt that the water pump being bad would throw the belt.
