Water Pump

Looks like I may have to change the water pump.

Truck was idling to warm up and liquid was leaking on the ground.

Checked and it is antifreeze. Coming down between the tranny pan and the A/C compressor. Quits after the motor stops.

Of course, the local shops are closed, parts houses are closed. Friend is bringing one up from ST. Louis in the morning. Quick drive to a friends house with a small garage and then it can be done and on the road again I hope.

Leaving for the week in the morning.

Had 528,000 and some on it.

I had to change mine at 130k, put on a napa and then had to change again at 150k. Get one from the dealer and be done with it,

Dealer is not open till Monday.

Will go with the NAPA and hope for the best. If it is short time, then the dealer will be the next one.

Already committed to a load and have to get on the road.

Save the receipt. It don't mean much, but most of the upper end NAPA stuff has a lifetime warranty

I have the Napa lifetime warranty on the water pump. But like others, after 20k, coolant is coming out the weep hole. Keep the original receipt. I'm debating to get another Napa or OEM. Sure, the part is free, but if I have to change it every 20k instead of 80-100k, that's 4 times the effort + 8 gal of coolant (2 gal/chg).

However, the Napa WP will work for you for this one week trip as long as you are not driving around the world in one week (> 20k miles)

Are these water pumps the same as from Cummins? If so then a Freightliner dealer might have them on hand as OEM Cummins and FL has some places open 24/7.

i think you might have meant a different mileage, but if the stock lasted 130k and the napa lasted 150k, it looks like the napa one is a better deal

Between the tranny pan and A/C compressor ?..... You sure it's not a leaking coolant line, the one under the exhaust manifold?
