Water Leak - Question
Water Leak - Question
So I was under the truck the other day and noticed a drip from the front of the engine. Today I got under there and looked further.
The drip is comming down and dripping off of the front of the oil pan.
If the water pump was leaking, is that where it would be dripping from? It isn't leaking much, but I wanna get it fixed before I do have problems.

its the water pump for sure the bleed hole is on the back flange where it bolts to the block..not where its put normally..faked me out for a while cause it runs down the edge of timing cover where it cant be seen untill it drips off frt edge of pan...just yank and replace it..
Water or antifreeze? Antifreeze would be right there for the water pump issue, but I had WATER dripping from mine the other day. The a/c lines get pretty cold, and they were wet and dripping in that area. Just checking!
wow, i might have gotten lucky. i finally got a chance to get my shop light out today and found (i think) where my water leak is coming from. I think it i coming from the upper rad hose right at the fitting coming from the thermostat. Either that or the temp sensor by the thermostat (think that is what it is). it was a little loose so i snugged it up.
But I might have stumbled upon another problem that is a lil more expensive that a water pump.
I think I might be making oil. Ive got to drive it some more to find out for sure because I am not sure where I filled the oil to when I changed it. But to me it feels like it might be a lil thin but it doesn't smell like diesel, so...
We'll find out.

Mine always looks a little on the high side when it is hot. At cold temp ( seems like only about 85 here anymore!) it is exactly on the full mark. There is also no way of knowing which injector it is without testing. While #6 may be the common leaker for dogger, It is an expensive guess. The injector would be covered under the Cummins warranty if under 100K , so after double checking the oil, I'd set an appt. with your favorite dealer if you find it is still high.

Definatly not alwasy #6, on my 04.5 first was #4 then 27 days 800 miles later it was #6 and funny thing was a poster on here, when I mentioned #4 going told me to expect #6 withing 2 months to fail. It did. But yes keep an eye on it and if making oil get it in ASAP. I recently got rid of my 04.5 due to all it's fueling problems and other than the longer loan again couldn't be happier with the07 so far at 7000 miles. Just wish it would hurry up and finish breaking in, without eh miles on it.
