Warranty and Oil Leak
My '05 has developed a slow oil leak somewhere on the rear of the engine. It is evident around the back of the oil pan, more so on the turbo side, and on the bottom of the bell housing / inspection cover. I was at the dealer a few minutes ago, and asked how long leaks are covered under warranty. I'm at 35,500 now, and am leaving for a 2500 mile trip next week. He said it would be $100 deductable if I brought it in after 36,000. Is that correct? I'm really not happy about letting a dealer have the truck.
I should say that the oil pan itself is not oily, other than the top lip of hte pan. It's mainly on the tranny.

Are you sure this is not just a little excess oil coming thru the Blow-by tube??
Mine has oil on it where you describe too, but not a lot. I just wipe it off when I change the oil. It never leaks on the driveway.
I would avoid the dealer if possible.

It really doesn't drip that I've seen. It's left a few drops over the last year, and I had just attributed that to breather blow by. The reason I don't think it is now, is just that the oil is mainly on the opposite side of the motor / trans, from the breather tube. So it sounds like we think the leak is covered under the normal engine warranty to 100K?

Go there to have it looked it.
Then when they whatever is bad, just make a appt. to have it fixed after your trip.
Doing that when the found the leak would make you still under the 36k.
