voided warranty
I love a good thread!
And no I wasn't trying to scare anyone, but I do believe that anyone who thinks these modules and boxes don't leave an easily identifiable trail is ignorant, in denial, or a more possibly a "module saleman". My point is don't believe anyone trying to sell you a $600 box. In the end he makes $600 and you might lose $10,000 to replace all the melted pistons, busted block, fried TC etc.
If it's worth the risk to you then go for it, but don't cheat. You play, you pay!
Follow the money!

Take Crankpot's theory a little further, Now big brother has evidence you defrauded them.
How long before companies and lobbiest take the next step? Turn you in for fraud.
How long before Computerised vehicles start telling all kinds of things like how fast you drove and now it has to be reported to the proper authorities.
How long before computerized vehicles and GPS tracking start relaying information to the proper authorities via satalite links? The technologies already is in place in most vehicles. It only takes a law to impliment it.
Every time someone tries and screw over some thing or some one more and more laws have to be implimented to govern such behavior. In the end we are only screwing over ourselves and future generations.

How many of these trucks break with just a programmer or Edge on them if not abused?? I would find it hard to belive that 75 or 100 hp extra will cause one of our trucks to blow up or come apart if dodge built there trucks so close to the edge of coming apart then when mine breaks I will go back to a FORD. I am pretty sure I will be driving my CTD for years to come.
Ouch. Well I hope my Dodge doesnt come apart, if it does then I guess all my buddies were right and my truck is junk and I should have not purchased a Dodge.
So here is a question for all the moral police. Do you ever tow more than your truck is rated for?? If you do and you have a problem I am sure you tell the dealer it was your fault because you overloaded your truck that you want to pay the repair bill right??? Because we all know that if you didnt then you would be immoral!! Same thing if you put bigger tires on your truck if you do then I am sure you pay for any repairs that bigger tires may have caused right????
They tried the bigger tires thing on me. I told them with 4.10s and 35" tires, I'm running the equivalent of a 3.73 which is a factory option. That the extra weight of the tires wasn't even close to being a factor.
If all you want to do is figure out a way to get around the rules, then by all means go for it. Just don't expect everyone else to agree and sure don't brag about it on here or you WILL get told about it. You have the right to post, as I have the right to disagree. And no, I have stock tires and tow 6k has been the max.
If DC should pay for warranty work on a truck with a few mods, where is the line? If the truck is covered with the stock HP and we add 100 or more to it and something snaps due to our mods, DC should pay? How about we double it? We can do anything we want and do whatever it takes to get DC to pay? I know where I stand, you decide for yourself. The true character of a man is what he does when no one is waching.
You have a very good point. I waited until my warranty was long dead before I seriously started playing with mine but I put 100 to 130k a year on my trucks.
If you’re that worried about an up loader don’t use one. Predator Power makes a add-on in line chip that gives you another 100hp and 220flbs of torque. It just plugs into your map and rail sensors. When it first came out they would warranty your truck because it didn't program your ECM but I think they won't even do that now. Adding this much will cause more problems for DC so I can see their point. Remember if you don't program your ECM they can't ever tell you used a add-on chip unless you forget to take it off right.

But really, even the tone ring mod, after-market intakes, exhaust mods - any non-electronic mods - are subject to the same criteria.
I *love* to mod, tinker, etc., like most people on this board but I thought I was buying enough truck up front so I wouldn't *have* to. When the trailer starts pulling me backwards on hills then maybe I'll do something.
My street/track car satisfies my tinkering needs for now.

YOU WOULD THINK that the only way this could happen in the dope that WAS SUPPOSED TO torque the bolts ,DIDN'T
