Adjusted the valves today, set st .010 intake and .020 exhaust but when i went to put the cover back on a sticker says exhaust adjustment is .026 . Never heard of this. Should i reset to larger gap?
2006 5.9 ltr engine. No mods except advance on tone ring.

 

we have heard two different reasons for the change until we find out for sure we are leaving ours at 0.026. we know it has to do with higher heat on the valves, one person says it gives more time on the seat to transfer heat. another says there was a change in alloys in the seat and the lash was changed to 0.026. to me this does not make sense. we changed cams to get rid of part if the in cylinder egr and give more time on exhaust opening dropping this to 0.020 would help more but until i know for sure i will play safe

 

Wonder how this would affect the fuel milage if any? Yea i redid mine and set to .026 to be safe. Local mechanic says to use the old .020 on all 5.9s
