Angry Unknown Problem

Hi Guys,

I'm having trouble with my truck and I'm having a hard time to figure out where to start troubleshooting.

Problem: It first started with a loud screetching when taking off, letting out the clutch and at slow speeds but would disapear by about 15 km/hr. Then it progressed to clicking noises like a u-joint but only when driving in a straight line. Now I'm getting massive vibration out of the drivetrain when slowing down either by itself or with the e-brake engaged. And finally when going home with it last night slowing down I was getting a howling out of what sounded like the rear diff like when a diff is gone. Not good. I've checked both drive shafts and the rear diff and can't see anything that is obvious.

I don't think its the stock clutch because it doesn't do it all the time and there is no noise from the clutch with the peddle pressed in or out.

Can anybody out there help me please??

T.I.A.

I would start with the u-joints. Put it in neutral with the ebrake on and use a screw driver or small prybar to check for movement in the joints. Put some hard pressure on them and watch for ANY movement, there should be none at all.

That would be my step one.

I know this doesn't need to be said but in the interest of safety "billie" means the emergency or parking brake and not the exhaust brake. Also do this on flat ground and put a block in front and another behind of one tire so the thing doesn't roll over you

LOL, definitely don't want anyone hurt. I should have been more clear. And engine OFF.
