Long Cranking Hot
Long Cranking Hot
A friend of mine just bought an '05 and has noticed a couple of things. First, he says it takes quite a long time to start after it's been running for a while. He says if he leaves it for 30 or so minutes or more it starts right up after only a couple of seconds. Could something be wrong with his truck? Or is this normal for a third gen?
Also, he says there is a slight miss/hesitation when he's just below 2000 rpm in 4th gear and he gives it a bit more fuel. I'm not sure if this would be related to the starting thing or not. Any ideas?

Don't have any ideas but my 03 starts in a sec or 2 all the time, never a problem, hot or stone cold (with grids to 30* below). Never felt a hesitation at any time that I remember. 100K miles so far. Every truck is a bit different though.
More than likely an injector issue, or timming issue if its only having long cranking time when hot and having issue's with my timming or cp3 as we speak and is sorta of doing the same thing. When he is cranking when hot does it feel like the starter stumbles on a cylinder then goes back through and fires?
