turbo noise at tailpipe

i love my cummins but i have noticed that the ford power joke diesels make alot of turbo noise out the exhaust. i hardly ever hear a cummins do that. why? is it maybe certain exhaust kits are prone to this versus other makes of exhausts? i have to admit that i like hearing the turbo from the exhaust system. other than removing the cat freom my 04.5, what can be done? i already replaced the stock muf with a Magnaflow. now, its a little louder but not bad, even when towing. around here, if a cummins has a loud exhaust, its just loud, almost no turbo noise, or its so loud that you cant hear the turbo noise even if its there.

I gutted the cat and replaced muffler to MBRP and the turbo whistle can be heard out the exhaust very well. Have had several compliments on the sound and I like it as well.

cool a friend of mine has an exhaust shop. i will see about killing the cat with a piece of straight 4" in its place. that way, if for some reason, i can put the cat back on without damage. thanks for the response

But you cant hear the turbo through the exhaust on a powerstroke above idle because of all the popping. Those things sound like a** with a straight pipe.

The newer powerpukes run a vairable van turbo. That makes a big difference

My brother's had a 4" straight pipe. The turbo was was pretty loud from the tail pipe. When he would turn it off, the turbo could be heard spooling down for a few seconds. But you had to be near the tail pipe to really hear it.

Cincy hit the nail right on the head.. The Variable vane turbo that ford has been using a while is why they sound like that.. go to youtube and search 6.7 straight pipe.. they use the VGT too and you can hear a lot of whistle.. I have no cat and a magnaflow straight thru and I can hear my twins a little but its never gonna have that jet sound at the tailpipe..
