Truck won't stop

Running down AA highway in kentucky in a 55mph zone. Was following a car doing 40mph pull out beside him at WOT doing about 70 when i let off the fuel pedal. Pedal came back up and truck was still gaining speed thair goes 85 gaining on 90 i was like hit the brake slowed downed to 65 let off here we go again back to 85 so i hit the brake again slowed down to around 60 let off and back to 80 so i was back on the brake hard was running out of room before i hit the curve part slowed down past 43 and the tranny kicks down reves the motor to about 2600 rpm was getting scared this beast wants to go so i drop down in netural and OMG the CTD hits about 4200 rpm and i was like shes going to blow i turned the key off and i thought she shook the motor mounts off. i coasted to the shoulder put it in park and tryed to gather myshelf. so i fired it back up started fine like nothing wrong it was running around 800 rpm so i put it in drive and no throttle response put it to the floor and nothing so i truned it off. ( stuff going though head) sit thair around 3 min started up and it runs fine came back home.

Its a 2007 swb quadcab auto 5.9 no mods but a cat test pipe and factory muffler now.
i didnt have the cruise on first question my dad asked. It didnt throw a light or nothing. so will the dealer be able to find codes and will thay say any thing about the test pipe or should i just put the test pipe back on

Had a similar situation about a year ago..., although not nearly as extreme. My brakes were affected as well. When I hit my brakes, they fluttered back at me like ABS was engaged, and didnt feel like they were working. Had been going down the interstate for a few hours. Passed a car and the thing just wanted to keep going. Very weird. After I turned off the Curise it stopped., although I still had a weird fell in the brake pedal. I was able to get mine off at the next exit and shut it down without the over revving you experienced. Had it off for about 3 minutes. Never had the problem again.

My dad had that same problem with is 03 it scared the poop right outta him, the dealer said its was the throttle positioning sensor.

Just an update took the truck to the dealer and thay cant find any thing wrong. No codes nothing, thay said thay called star and all thay told them if the TPS was bad it would throw a code. So the dealership told me if it happens again bring it back and thay would have star come and look at it, i told him thay may have to unwrap it off a telephone pole if it happens again.
But its been 2 days and comeing home from work it happen again but not as bad but the question is i have no mods but a after market muffler i put the cat back on and u can tell i had it off before cause i had to trim a little off the inlet of it to cut off the crease that was in it from the stock clamps. So if star comes down and looks at it u guys think thay will try to void the warrenty. No other mods
Thanks

If that happens again, remember that all you have to do is bump the gear selector up one notch into neutral, drive it off the road and shut it down. Trying to brake against that much torque is, as you now know, difficult at best.

Wow, that's pretty scarry man.

Tell them the marks around your cat were from when you did the muffler replacement. I think as long as it's there they won't give you any problems about it.

Your warrenty would be voided if the cat is missing - leave it on, it's not hurting anything and you won't notice it being there.

Sorry to hear about your experance - a little white-knuckle driving, eh? Yep, I guess problems can happen with even those fortunate enought to afford a new truck. I would have to guess throttle position sensor and I would avoid WOT driving until it's figured out.

If/when it happens again, turn the key off one click, put it in netrual and coast to the side of the road. Braking will take more pedal but they will work. Have it towed to the dealer and tell them to fix it.

Engine runaway

SlickyRicky sorry to hear of your runaway woes but i'm glad to here that i'm not the only Dodge owner who has had this problem. I'm new to the forum so please bare with me.
I'm an RV transporter and have had this same problem. My '05 Dually started running away between 60 and 75 mph. The only way to slow her down was climb on the brake or bump the tow/haul button and knock her down to 3rd. Then she would come out of the spasm. Took her to my mech., he did a return fuel flow test on the injectors, 5 of them were shot, had already replaced 6th one on another issue. Mech. theory is that injectors wore out and were over fueling engine and ecm could not keep up with over fueling, hence runaway. Replaced the 5 bad injectors and no more problem, just like the day i bought her.
