Which Amsoil Oil do you use?

Of those that use Amsoil, which one do you use and why? I keep looking at the different products and I have to keep scratching my head. Do you use the 5W30 HDD, 15w40 Diesel and Marine oil or the newer 5w40 for the new ULSD engines. Have you seen any performance gains? Reduced noise levels? How long between changes? Do you use the Fleetguard filter or the Amsoil filter? Do you use a bypass filter? How soon from new did you change to Amsoil? I know I will be going with Amsoil but i just don't know which is best for our engines.

What about all the other fluids? how many of you are running Amsoil from Engine to Rubber? Any experiences are welcomed, good or bad.

I am sure that from all of the questions, you probably already know that my head is about to explode. I know engine oil is the life blood of any engine but even more so for diesels. I intend on keeping this truck for a while and I want to get it right from the beginning. I also believe running synthetic is not only being fiscally but environmentally responsible. Longer drain intervals=less down time and less wasted oil to dispose of.

Thanx
Al

Other than the new truck, the only other thing I own that doesn't run Amsoil is my lawn mower.

That'll change on it's next oil change and all fluids on the '07 mega will eventually make it to Amsoil depending on service intervals and break in.

Amsoil 15w40 Diesel & Marine is my choice for the crankcase. However, I haven't even known about that ULSD 5w40 stuff until you spoke of it. Even though, I have no issue with running the 15w40 year round up here.

I've been running amsoil 15w40 in the crankcase, 75w140 in the axles, universal atf in the trans and have not had any problems, I can get the oil at dealers cost so that's why I went with amsoil.

There has to be more Amsoil users here that can chime in. Thanks for the response so far.

I have decided to get the ULSD 5w40 because they supposedly have added even better soot control to it because of the new generation diesels. I would still like to here from more of you. Especially how soon you changed over. I know a lot of people change their diff fluid earlier because of break in but how soon?

Later,
Al

I've just switched over to amsoil 15w40 diesel and marine synthetic at 2k. I got more responsive oil pressure. Also changed front and rear diff to lucas 75w90synthetic.

i use 15/40 but really would like to use 5-30hdd thats there best diesel oil by far .i just dont have the nerve to use a light weight oil for towing.i also use there auto trans fluid in the trans and the transfer case.the new 75-110 in the rear & front diff.oil filter is there aeo-80and aeo life time dry air filter both filters are the best you can get as far as filtration and flow.if you want the best fuel filter get the baldwin pf7977 you better check that number i think its right. as far as when to change over most people wait till between 10 to 20 thousand miles.you just have to give the engine time to break in. the 5-40 could be a great oil but its to early to say it has no track record and they did a lot of playing around to come up with this oil , only time will tell on this one.

I use Amsoil's ACD (10W-30) because it doesn't contain any viscosity index improvers. Unless you have a 2007 diesel, you don't need to use the 5W-40 (DEO). In fact, I wouldn't use the updated oil unless I had to because of the lower TBN. Regardless, most of the folks that I know that use Amsoil in diesels use the 15w-40 heavy duty diesel oil (AME).

It's just a matter of preference because the benefits of a synthetic motor oil are well documented.

I also use the Severe Gear 75w-90 (SVG) in the differential.

I'm pleased with the products and have been a customer for more than 25 years.

I don't use Amsoil's engine oil, but I would recommend either the AME 15W-40 or the HDD 5W-30 in the 5.9 CTD. On the 6.7 CTD's, I'd ONLY use the DEO 5W-40 due to the particulate filter.

i also use amsoil 15w-40. i am also nervous about using their 10w-30 diesel oil-even though it is their best oil.

Also, 15w40 Amsoil synthetic. I would not use the 5w40 in our trucks. I would use it only in the new 6.7 trucks.

I guess that makes both of us dyslexic. I actually read it as 5w-40!
