You can order one, its just that they are on hold for a few weeks.
I heard all longboxes and 6 speeds were allocated for the month.

If you do order one you just have to be patient, I ordered 12-13-03
and just went to D1 last week. Shipping date of 02-24-04.

I ordered my 555HO, 6speed, limited slip 4.10 here in Oakland Co. MI and nobody said a word about it being out of the ordinary, to be expected they tried to talk me into the 4x4, and automatic (more $ in there pocket).
I'm not handicaped, or lazy, so no need to sacrifice fuel mileage, reliability and performance for the automatic.
Though I do think that a SRW would do beter in the snow than my dually has done this year, its hard to judge.

Local dealers click here

You can check inventory for each dealer and if you can't find something around you then go to www.dodge.com and check dealers in the Motown area.

This is how I found my truck, email me or pm and I will help ya if needed.

Tried to buy a new 04.5 Ram 3500 QC SWB SRW SLT 325/600 48RE 4x4 this weekend. What a disappointment, not the truck, but the fact that there are none available around CNY. The part that is really grinding me most is that I was given an EC# to use to purchase with.

First dealer had none and could not find one but would continue to look once a week.
Second dealer, larger than first dealer use the old volume trick right, had none. Salesman says “ most people go to dually's with the 3500 SWB”, he had been okay up till that point so I didn’t strangle him. He also said he would continue to look, hopefully more often than once a week. Neither dealer could order one and say they could get it before 3/31 when my EC# expires.

What gives? Why are there such long delays in delivery? What is this saying about the DC corporation in general.

I think the reinstatement of the Employee Choice Program until 3/31, restricting sale of certain new models, and begin the reduction of incentives is a way for DC to reduce current inventory and to increase sagging profits. Good old fashion capitalism, hoo raa!!

But why did DC have to do this when I finally can get a great no haggle deal on a good truck?

Wink lost truck???

I ordered my 6 speed H. O. Cummins , Regular cab, 11-29-03 and still don't have it. The things I have been told by the dealer is that they held it for "muffler inspection" and then it was shipped, should have it by mid February, then end of February - now March 8th. Last week I was told it was in Buffalo and just waiting for a full truckload to be delivered to the Utica area - then a phone call came saying it was missing. Checked with the dealer today and nothing new - think I am getting the run around.

Spudman , you ordered around same time I did. Your truck is probably in quality control awaiting a fix for the missing problem I have. I know it is frustrating, but be thankful your not swimming through the pile of "....." I am. Want to buy my lemon? You are probably better off if they have to re-order.

If you want to take a plane ride come out to Idaho and choose the 6 speed you want. Most are 305's but they have a great selection and 305 = no smog.. Peterson's Stampede Dodge Nampa Idaho.. Good Luck !
