Tranny issues
Ok, driving my new to me mega yesterday and got the 1st to 2nd shift problem. Picked up a new filter, fluid, governor solenoid and pressure transducer. Changed it all out last nite. Pan was clean and shiny with little if anything on the magnet. Filled with 7 quarts of ATF4 and went on a test drive and 1st to 2nd is way better but still not quite right and now it won't shift into 3rd or higher. Anyone experience anything similar? I used my Smarty and cleared the code once repairs were completed and nothing has popped back up yet. I drove it about 4 miles on my test runs.
Any input is greatly appreciated

It's Fixed
Took the pan back off to check electrical connections and found governor solenoid kind of loose where it fits in valve body. Removed it and found that there are 2 detents that have to mate up to the hold down bracket. Reinstalled everything correctly, poured fluid back in and it now shifts like a new truck. If you install a Borg Warner solenoid pay attention to the detents. The oem does not have them.

My 06 is fine in 1st shifts to 2nd but slips at about 20mph. Shifts into 3rd at 25mph. I am hoping its not a tranny replacement, taking to shop this coming week. Any other recommends besides the ones mentioned above for my mechanic before a new tranny is suggested.

Sounds like a pressure problem . You could have him replace the electrics in the valve body and test or install a reconditioned VB. If he does pressure tests that would be best instead of throwing parts. All this would be moot if your steels and clutches are worn.

try replacing the governor solenoid and pressure transducer. It was a 100 buck fix plus the filter and fluid cost, about another 70 bucks. It worked like a champ on mine that had 160K miles.

Bad news 2nd gear clutches burnt out said everything else checked out. tranny fluid was brownish red when I checked but was dripping clear from the cover at the converter. $3800 for a new trans. Mechanic uses Jasper's and says he rarely has problems but they do stand behind their product even as far as supplying a rental car if there is any problem. I looked at goerend and ats and just a bit more out of my budget and a longer wait time. My truck is a work/daily driver so time is a major issue. Waiting on the specs from jasper as far as what they do vs. others.
