Tranny harness

So, the tranny wiring harness in my auto equipped 04' is about shot.
What is a guy supposed to do to fix this now that the harness and pig-tails are obsolete? I cant find any at salvage either. There is one on ebay, buy the place wants $1k for it! WTH?! No way.
Is it possible to buy the "pins" for the weather-pack connectors, trim the wires back a little, and re-build? Doing the work would be no problem. I enjoy wiring for some reason. Its kind of therapeutic, LOL.
But, how does a guy figure out what pins he needs? And, where to get them?
I've done some google-fu, but have not really learned much.
Is this easier than I am afraid it might be? Or are my fears justified?

Have you tried searching for "Mopar Connector Repair" then it lets you select year and model for the connectors and repair kits. www.connectors.dctools.com the 23 way for the trans was ~ $100.00 and you will may need a tool to crimp the wire. Good luck.
