Tranny Auto Or Manual

NEWBE, FIRST TRUCK!
IM ABOUT TO ORDER A 3500 DIESEL QUAD CAB LB SRW.CAN YOU ADVISE PROS AND CONS TO THE AUTO 4 SPEED AND THE MANUAL 6 SPEED. IM LEANING TOWARDS THE SIX.

Just make sure you like rowing the gears. That close ratio 6 speed can be labor intensive. I like mine, just make sure you know what you're getting.

You can always skip a couple gears (example 2nd, 4th, 6th).

If your going to be towing I would go with the manual for sure. Other wise expect to do some tranny upgrades down the road.

The decision is mostly personal preference and what you are going to do with it. Towing the manuals are superior, and give more economy.

And dont overlook the fact you CANT lockout overdrive on the 2005 auto. Not being able to lockout overdrive when needed is not good for towing .

There upgrading the 6 speed , make sure you get the latest. And if I'm not mistaken they had two 6 speeds available , one was rated heavy duty. But there upgrading to a new Mercadies 6 speed . I believe it Mersadies. Check it out get the latest.

Only ONE six speed now.Its a G56 made by Damiler.There are some leftover NV5600.To differant beasts.Also the dual mass flywheel is being used with the G56.It nor the trans are proven yet with the Cummin.
