TQ slipping at 10k....This is bad news...
The 06's autos can be warranted with an EB. Its all about how the trans reacts to the EB being applied. EB's are run on 47RH's all the time and they have no problems if the trans and controls are setup correctly.
I decided I was going to wait till my mileage warranty was nearly up. I have a good relationship with the dealer. My goal will be to get a new tranny and THEN build it up with a real TQ and VB upgrade. I really don't want to just fix the TQ.....not when they'll replace the tranny with a new one. Besides, that'll give me time to save some $$ for the upgrade.
Update to TQ--yup, still sounds like crap. Can feel the roughness when it engages. Honestly, sounds bad. You can hear the low frequency groan while first engaging. Worse when warm and accending hills under load. I love the 2ND L/U while "Tow/Haul Mode" engaged. But man, the tranny just didn't like it with a 5000lb boat!

97,
I don't see how second gear can put any more torque through the TC than any other gear. Huh? The TC is between the engine and the tranny. It always and only sees engine torque, not reduction gear torque. Maybe you don't hear it grinding at higher speeds beause of the other noise.
Why not get it fixed now and stop worrying every time you want to tow? It's only going to bug you and get worse. A good tranny will go for at least 100,000 miles with your easy use. No need to wait just to get more miles for free. And maybe he dealer will slip in a new TC that you provide for them.

If you have a good relationship w/ the dealer then get the trans replaced NOW, or find another dealer. You didn't pay $30-40k for a truck w/ a bad transmission.
As was said earlier, if the t/c is slipping bad, then the trans will need to be torn down as well.
I had a bad (from the factory) ring and pinion set up on 2 axles in a row ona new truck. 1st time, they replaced the whole axle, everything except the brake drums.
2nd time, I was 600mi from home and begged them to repair it rather than replace, so I could get on the raod. They wouldn't. 3 days later, a new axle was delivered and installed.

Thanks Guys for the good ideas.
You know, two things, first the tranny. The reason I was thinking 2ND L/U killed the TQ is because the TQ (in my mind) was seeing more torque and HP. Thus, having more of an opportunity to slip. I figure that because the motor is turning some 2000-2500 rpms when accending STEEP hills. And frankly, if I'm wrong---then please correct me.
Second, replacing the TQ. I never though of asking them to replace with a different manufactorer's TQ. That would be great! Which one would you guys reccommend?
I figured that it made sense to wait.....maybe not....
