tow haul problem
By chance do you adjust your steering wheel up/down. You may have a chaffed wie in the steering column. I know it is a problem, but it sounds as if there is a wire that will viborate around, that is probably chaffing intermittenly, your problem is suspictious, open column to get to wire harness, using ohmn meter connected to the wire at the comp. shake wire harness vigorusly. Hope you luck;;;
thanks for the suggestion- i very very rarely adjust/move my steering column.i have the dual gauge pod, so i its alittle tight against the instrument panel, so i got in the habit of just leaving the wheel where i like it. my mechanic drove the truck to work yesterday and said it was almost unbearable to drive because of how many times it went into tow haul mode. he called me last night and said you wont believe this- i drove home from work (40 miles) with the truck hooked up to my work scanner and the truck did not go into tow haul mode once!!! its been unbearable to drive for a solid week!-and last night was the first time it did not do it -my luck! mechanic has another truck to look at today. picking mine up today. told me to drive it this weekend and if it does it again call him and we will start over next week
truck does not stay in tow haul mode when it does it by its self. the tow haul light will flicker on and off and you can feel the o.d. engage and disengage. sometimes its so bad i have to manually hold in the tow haul button so i can get down the road. dodge mechanic now has my truck. he is driving it to work this morning so we shall see-later in the day i imagine.
I did- started at the ecm and started looking at wires- about 5 inches up I found a wire with a bare spot on it- inside the wire loom! Had to of been nicked at the factory! I never touched that loom or those wires before - it had a little bit of corrosion on it from being exposed for a while. I fixed the wire, it solved my problem
