torque converters

Does anyone have any experience with aftermarket tc's for the third gen's? I want my truck to perform a little better and get better mileage and i have read the tc is a good place to start. I need to know if they really make the truck a little less sluggish while pulling and which one would be the best for a daily driver that pulls a 5k pound trailer all day five days a week. thanks, brad

Just do a search on "Torque converter" and you'll get all kinds of info. I got a 1 mpg increase with mine plus it keeps you in your power band longer. Money well spent...

What I meant is SHOULD you do just a TC? What about raising the fluid coupling pressures.

I did a valve body and converter at the same time. It just seems like the right thing to do. You don't have to upgrade the valve body but it makes a heck of a difference too...

I would say do both. My ats tc and valve body are awesome. Well worth the money.

Hey bigman, did the tranny mods make the truck build speed qiucker while pulling a load? I guess I'm wanting to know if it took that sluggish feeling away. thanks

Yes the vague sloppy feel of the stocker is gone. As the rpms rise, so does the speedometer. I also picked up a mile to the gallon in city driving. Less throttle to get up to the same speed. Good stuff, very good stuff. Dodge really needs to get a decent tranny to compete with the competition.

I have also been considering a tc and valve body upgrade. Does these changes affect the truck warranty other than the transmission?

burlhall, unless you are getting work done on your transmission, they would never know these parts were in there....

We put a BD valve body and converter in my brother's 03, and it made a huge difference, now it's putting the power to the ground.

A VB, TC, and Deep Pan are the three best things that you can do to a stock transmission before going internal.

Thanks for the replies fellas, what converter would be good for a 4x4 05 dually that pulls 5 to 6k around town everyday. Its stock right know but I want a converter that would work with a power pup downloader on the tow setting or the stock setting. thanks, brad
