Time for new Air Filter

Time for new Air Filter...what should I get? I don't want to drop a ton of cash on anything, but I want my cummins to breath. I'll be driving 1000mi/week starting in august, so anything that'll help with milage is worth the money. Any advice appreciated!

thanks,
daniel

I replaced mine with the Amsoil filter and I'm very pleased with mine. My filter reminder hasn't moved.

My Napa Gold drop in replacement has ~17K on it and the minder hasn't moved. The intake tubing was free of dust and the white paper towel test came up spotless. So it must be doing its job. I checked it the other day right before I changed oil just to see how it looked and it was absolutely filthy, pretty much black and covered with bugs. I went ahead and put it back in though--it is probably filtering better being partially plugged up, and the minder isn't registering any restriction. The stock filter it came with would suck the minder down halfway when it was brand new if I got on it hard! I had the Air Raid drop in and while it flowed great, my silicon and wear numbers were high so I got rid of it. I noticed no more power or MPGs running the oiled filter vs. paper, and feel a lot more confident in the ability of the paper to filter better.

The Napa Gold 2846 is easily good for 20,000+ miles. My filter minder has never moved and mpg stays consistent.

So, where's the best place to purchase the Amsoil filters and which model?

Alright, I've found the model # for the amsoil drop in. What about the universal induction models? What is involved in using one of those from a stock set up?

thanks,
d

I, too, would like to use the big universal one but haven't figured out how to deal w/ the air intake sensor mounted on the intake tube w/out it looking like poo. Any ideas? Pics would be better !!!!!!

...ordered the amsoil drop in. I was hoping it'd be here by now, but it took them almost a week to even ship it out, which I find a little disappointing.
