Time for injector upgardes?

I have an 04 high output CTD, 6speed, and it has 113,000 miles on it. I bought it with 90,000 miles on it. I do a lot of highway and street driving, I hardly do much towing.

At the beginning of December I hopped in to go somewhere. The truck was shaking a lot while idling and there was a lot of white smoke. I was gone most of December and just now got back to look at it. Once it warms up it smooths out considerably. However, it still has a noticeable shake.

I ran a bottle of injector cleaner through it, I just replaced the fuel filter, and it is still doing it. I used an infrared thermometer to measure the exhaust header temperatures. Cylinder 6 is running significantly cooler than the others. All this leads me to believe it is a injector problem.

So my question is this, how do I go about fixing it?
Can I just get new nozzles and put them on there?
Will this solve the problem or do I need to get entirely new injectors?
How hard is it to replace injectors? I'm mechanically inclined.

If I do replace an injector, do I have to replace all of them at the same time?

Thanks!

Just replacing tips might not help you,
you need to have complete injector
checked out. I sent mine threw F1 diesel.

Being a cheapo, I'd just replace the bad injector, and move on. Replacing tips won't do squat if it failed electrically.

There seems to be a couple of common things destroying CR injectors. One is high pressure, and the other is poor fuel. Water in the fuel will kill injectors very quickly.

My suggestion is to send all of the injectors (they are have the same fuel source, and run at the same pressure), to F1 diesel and have them tested, and upgrade them to Flux 1.6's. They can repair most problems, with the injectors. The Flux 1.6's will generally give you better mileage and more power.

If you have a stock turbo, only go with Flux 1.0's. Take the all out and send them in to be checked out. Get ahold of one of F1's dealers, they can hook you up.

Then get your fuel filtered better so it won't be a recurring problem.

I'd suggest adding a 2 micron CAT filter after your stock fuel filter housing and before it goes to the cp3......so you have at least 2 stages of filtering.

I think it's an excellent idea. I think that is the reason my injectors have done so well, so long. I run my MP8 on 100 percent all the time, along with Smarty on 9. 126K and counting on the original stock injectors.

Here is a post by dtr member "AH64ID" showing a possible set up solution and with pics. Mine is mounted remotely down on the frame but I guess the principle is the same.

I agree with TexasCTD.. I put on the 2 micron setup with 10k on my truck..
TST-R49, Smarty Betas and now TNT and I have 140k on stock injectors/CP3

And where are you pulling that line off the bottom of the stock filter? I haven't looked at mine, is that where the fuel feeds the CP3 as stock?

I use a Walbro pump...which I don't think you can get from Richard at GDP anymore. But regardless of pump....here are some filter kits. I switched from the Fleetguard filter to a CAT filter after reading some info here on DTR about their better filtration qualities. They are both spin on interchangeable filters.
