Hi all,

I have a 93 2wd 5sp clubcab which has been great but too small in the back for the kids now.

Just bought an 03 quadcab 4by4. Much better I thought but it seems like it needs injection cleaning already

Hmm - I ahh, I don't think that's quite an appropriate um, turn of phrase, shall we say - for a family site...

thanks for the welcome

I just picked up the truck last thursday. Its only got 115,000 km (70,000 miles? ) Only testdrove it once before i bought it because i figured what could go wrong at that mileage. And it sounded so good at the time, course it was so cold out, I didn't hang around to really listen to it once it was warmed up. but now i notice its got a bit of a knock when it's warmed up. mechanic buddy of mine whose always looked after my 93 thought it sounded like an injector getting plugged, told me to talk to the dealer. their service manager agreed and booked it in to get a cleaning free of charge (or it better be). he thought it didn't sound too bad yet but to try some diesel conditioner. So I had some Howe's still for the other truck and put it in, so far no difference. I'm planning a trip from AB to vancouver to pick up a trailer but I'm postponing it until the dealer can have a look at it. some people suggested I just run it, the long trip and work going thru the mountains might straighten it out. but i don't want to take the chance. Really its way quieter than the 93 except for this persistant diesel knock. But reading the 3rd gen forums here about people having injector troubles has kind of spooked me. It does have the lift pump in the tank, that was one thing I checked on after reading about it. Dealer had replaced that, hopefully with a good one.
How much of that Howes' do you put in a tankful and how often? I bought it for the 93 and only used about a 1/4 of the liter one time, so the 03 got about 3/4 of a liter in the 130L tank. Can you put too much in?
