tie rod conversion straight tie rod vs wish bone

Way back in 98/99 the dodges came witht ehHD straight tie rod and drag link and to install that into later truck up to 02 it was a simple conversion just use the 00/01/02 pitman arm tie rod end and then the rest of the parts 98/99 and it all bolted in no issues and worked well in my 02 dodge

SO my question is my 03 has the wish bone and at 56k miles i already need a new drag link from pitman arm to pass knuckle set of ends they are wiped out would considering the conversion at this time be worth it, has anyone done it, is there any gain with these new trucks the steering is so much better on my 03 over my old 02 and 98 that its hard to think there is room for improvement

If you're going with new components, you may want to look into Thuren Fabrication's kit. Not sure how much the factory junk costs, but I'm sure Don's kit is competitive in price. Quality wise there is no comparison. And if you wear them out, the heims on Don's kit are rebuildable for cheap.

This thread caught my eye and was also wondering if anyone ever did this conversion? I wonder if it could be done with ball joints, I'm also looking for a new passenger side knuckle with two holes to accommodate both the tie-rod and drag-link, I'm of the belief that the drag link needs to be as close to level as possible to help prevent bump steer......anyone have any ideas??
Thanks
Monty

Closer to level is better, but more important is it needs to be parallel with the track bar.

Don Thuren makes a nice steering setup:

And dont forget the upgraded pitman arm with the new set up. The pick shows the wrong pitman arm.
