Throttle position sensor

Would a bad throttle position sensor make it feel like a lack of power in certain spots.Going from fifth to sixth it just seems to take forever to get some speed.Today I was towing a camper trailer, was fairly windy and I had a hard time getting to 100 km/h(62 mph). I had the skinny pedal to the floor and I could let it up (felt like my foot would move about an 1") and the truck would maintain the same speed.

How can I test the throttle position sensor myself?

Don't know if this will help, but recently hauled our 10k # 5er on a very long road trip. During trip lost almost 1/2 of the throttle and of course power. Tranny shifting was acting irregular and engine check lite came on. Code was for tranny throttle sensor. Dodge replaced part under warranty and all is well, tranny seems to be shifting better than it has in a long time.

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter? And is the lift pump still stock?
