When I was in need of trans help back in about 98 or so, I knew what the trans needed to survive, just not how to get it.
I called and read everything I could find.
I have modified and rebuilt the 727 and 518's for several years. Though, it was not for income. Just for my vehicles and for friends.
I called Suncoast, ATS, Dunrite and DTT.
At Muncie I was able to meet the crew at ATS and DTT and talk with them about the issues these trans have.
I felt only Bill, at DTT, and family would talk straight to me.
Ats, I won't say names here, tried to avoid answering directly my questions.
I felt this was only to sell thier products. I wasn't there to talk to sales staff. I wanted hands on people who KNOW these trans.
Obviously I chose DTT and and always get help and straight talk from them. I've even told people to call them for help, and they get it-in advice- without money transfer.
The only complaints I ever see about them is someone who took someone elses tranny to them and were not truthful about it. Or someone who claimed to have a DTT trans( and it was found to NOT be) and couldn't get it correctly set-up. They always respond and find the facts and expose it to all. They have even lost money helping those people and have been incorrectly blamed for problems.
They are the best.

thanks for your input! I checked out dtt website and they don't list complete transmissions for sale just components. If you don't mind me asking, what did your transmission cost and what were the goodies you put in it?

I bought what it needed and built it myself. I took all the advice Bill would give me!!!
Shelf trannies are not in your best interest. CALL them, and ask questions.
I spent about $2200 if I remember correctly.
These trans need tighter converters, higher line pressure and tighter clearances. Even stock trans need this.
10 lbs more pressure is a world of difference to a stock one. With a stock motor.

Wasn't DTT one of the FIRST to get into and develop new designs on Dodge autos way back when? I know when I had a 1st Gen truck DTT was the TRANS GURUS to that group of owners.

Yes they were early in the built trans for our trucks.
A+A in Camby indiana built my 95 auto and it was great, but the converter could still be slipped. I told Rick about DTT and all he said was those guys really know these trans. Rick builds racing trans has has alway been a guru too.

Well, I should ad that there are a lot of ATS customers who are very happy.
Same as Suncoast, Dunrite, Gorends.
As with anything, there are things learned from experience. Some people should not be mechanics and allowed near wrenches!!!!
The stories I can tell form years of fixing other guys screw ups.
