Synthetic oil. Good or bad?

Synthetic oil. Good or bad?
After 6K miles, I changed the oil and used Royal Purple's 15w40. I'm not sure if it's just my imagination but it seemed like the truck has lost a little power. Anyone uses synthetic oil? Any comments or suggestions would be great.
