stumble on high idle

My friend has a 03 diesel that runs fine except when it kicks uo to fast idle and when it does this it picks up a slight miss and stumbles a bit. It doesn't smoke any that I'm aware of and the tach doesn't move but you can hear it kindof feel it. The fuel filter and air filter get changed every 10000 miles so I doubt it's that and the truck has 75000-100000 miles on it. It was bought new by my friend and has always been maintained very well. Thanks in advance.

Throw 10,000# behind it and haul hard. Sounds a bit like an injector hanging up a bit. Your friend has been too nice to her. Should be driven hard and put away wet once and awhile

I'll tell him, but the truck is a welding rig. It has a pipeliner 200 and all of his tools and equipment on it and a custom flatbed. It is all stock except for a straitpipe and does carry a pretty big load. The springs were on the bumb stops till he put some airbags on it.

Mine does the same thing. I hadn't given it any thought though. I may need to find a long hill here somewhere. Oh wait I forgot I live in Alberta :-)

Have the same thing happening to ours. Am sure it has nothing to do with needing to pull something has my fiance has a real heavy foot and pulls a 26 foot horse trailer though mountains most of the time. Just had it to dealer, they replaced fuel pressure limiting valve but no luck. We have 91,000 miles on ours and really hope we can find out why this is happening before the warr. ends.

no just the stock tank. BTW they charged $690 for the repair (under Warr.) but the same part from Cummins was $85 and takes under a hour to put in.The thing that PO's me is they did it before they asked or checked to see if it was covered by warr. We have had lots of small problems with this truck since new and have tried 3 dealers in 3 towns and have not found one yet to be trust-worthy. Only reason we still take it to dealer is warr. After 92,000 miles and countless trips to dealers the highbeam indicator still flashes on low beam.
