Strongly considering this truck

Looking at an '06 with about 80k miles. Its got the G56 tranny. I know they started installing the G56 trannys that year too, not sure if there were any other changes that went along with the change.

I've been totally focused on '03-'04.5 trucks but this is a really nice truck at a great price.

What are the differences between the '04.5 and '06 trucks? I don't think there are any but not sure. The gas mileage should be the same on '04.5 to 06 trucks right?

I called Dodge and there are no restrictions on the motor. Only warranty work was a 'yolk'. I think thats a u joint but not positive.

I'm going to run it by the dodge dealer (its at an independant) and have them do there $100 whatever point inspection.

Any feedback would be welcome!

Thanks.

My 06 has 67,000 on it and I have replaced two u-joints and the steering damper.

Some 06's have problems with little things, check around and you'll see that, but overall I think they are average to a bit better than any other year!

If its an '06, then it has the G56 tranny. The NV 5600 was last installed in the '05's.
The fuel mileage will probably be slightly less than an '03-'05 since it revs slightly higher than the NV 5600.
I prefer the interior and exterior of the '06 to the previous trucks.
And I'd agree with Lost Lake. Although with my truck I've only had to replace u-joints to this point with approx. 80,000 miles on my truck. So far its the best one that I've owned.

My seats do suck... They are relatively comfortable, but they stain by just looking at them. When I can afford it, I'm getting leather seats!

Just get Marathons.

www.marathonseatcovers.com. Small family owned business in Montana. They'll mail you three fabric samples. Pick out what you want and request additional padding. They'll sew in some front and back pockets for you for a nominal charge. You'll wonder how you got along without them. Fit like a glove. Stain and water resistant to the max. I've owned some on two vehicles.

You are right. I looked at the pics and the shift stalk is bent. I asked the guy if rev was on the left or right and he told me right which led me to believe nv5600. He was mistaken though..

Agreed the mileage will be a little less with the G56 but I made the mistake of driving one. Its just SO much nicer to shift than the older unit. I'll probably get higher profile tires to help highway mileage once the once that are on there need to be replaced.

I also hate my seats and when I can, I'm doing something. Here is a good place to start looking.
